7 Months, 2 Teeth, & the 4th of July!

It's seven months old for young Sonny, and also the welcome of a second tooth - ouch! Sonny's love of putting things in his mouth has increased greatly with the new teeth. He recently went swimming with Grandma Chris, and attended Charity's Birthday Surprise (no pics, dammit! - please email them to me if you were there / have 1 or 2 of Sonny).

To celebrate Independence Day, Sonny has shown us his intention to crawl very, very soon. Oh boy! Other notable events of the weekend included a trip to the beach and a reach for a beer, naturally. Not to mention, the inevitable time spent with Walter.

Rest In Peace, Grampa Jim

Sadly, tomorrow will be Sonny's first funeral. After a short battle with an aggressive cancer, Jim passed away last week, far too soon, at the age of 67. It's most sad that Sonny will not have had the opportunity to know such a good man a little bit better, although we're grateful for the time they were able to spend together.

You'll be missed, Grampa Jim. We love you.

Happy Father's Day!

This entry is in honor of Sonny, the most adorable, considerate, well-behaved child of all. For Father's Day, Sonny got me a Kyuss CD that's been on my list for years, and some pictures for my office. He also got a Ramone's onsie (for him to wear, me to giggle about - pictures coming soon). And best of all, he simply enjoyed the day and shared his smiles and giggles - every day feels like Father's Day with him.

On Saturday, we grabbed brunch at Fred's with Sal & Damion to celebrate Amanda's birthday - slightly overdue. It also marked Sonny's first trip to NYC!

The aunts on Sonny's dad's side of the family all joined us to celebrate at the beach Sunday evening. We BBQ'd and raised a glass to Grampa Jim who wasn't up for visitors that day. The weather was perfect, the food was great (charcoal really does make a difference), and a good time was had by all.

Sonny & Walter have grown a little closer this past week. Sonny seems extremely curious about his brown, furry friend and gets very excited when Walter enters the room - soon to be expressed by pulling tails and ears no doubt!

All we are saying...

..is give peas a chance. And Sonny has. Just like his father, Sonny seems to love his veggies. We started him out with brown rice, but that proved too 'constricting'. So we moved onto peas, and he now gobbles them up!

Sonny hit the six-month mark this week! Naturally, there was a carnival in his honor at the local high school. Otherwise, we've just been celebrating around the house. We had a heatwave this weekend, which prevented us from much of the outdoor festivities we had planned.

In our totally subjective opinions, this is by far the most adorable baby ever. No offense, but just look at him!

Another Little Bear Sighting!

Happy Memorial Day everyone - and what excellent weather we had here in northern NJ! On Saturday Sonny and I went to the US Open of Mountain Biking to check out the pro-qualifying events - very cool.

Then the whole family had dinner in the backyard and Sonny dressed up in his warmest bear outfit.

On Sunday, we headed over the grandparents Chris & Jim's house for some much-needed family time. Everyone loves you, Grampa Jim. When we got home, Sonny jumped (get it?!) into his frog suit for a final showing. Next time we might not be able to pull him out of it.

This past week Sonny started dining on solid (sort of) foods. A little bit of rice mixed in with his usual liquid lunches doesn't always make it down the hatch, but some does! The rest is usually swished around like a fine wine, then shared with the chin, the bib, the hands, the shirt, the height chair, and sometimes even the floor!

Patience everyone! We've been sick over here!

The good news is we all seem to be recovered, or at least well on our way. This time, Sonny started with the sniffles. Lisa, then, fell deep into the throes of the flu - all but immobilized. Sonny's sniffles progressed ... well, you get the idea... it was ugly and there are no photos to support what I'm saying.

However, leading up to and since then, we've managed some great photos and a video worthy of posting.

Plus, Sonny passed the 5-month mark! We noticed Sonny had begun to incorporate Douglas, his brown dog, into his daily wardrobe in an effort to cover up what can only be called "strange pattern baldness." He thinks no one can tell... and we haven't had the heart to tell him.
